Birds
The once were two birds male and female who perched themselves upon separate trees from quite a distance apart but close enough they could see and hear each other. They both carefully hid themselves within the leaves and felt somewhat safe from any danger. As they began to chirp their songs of distress and wondered if they could be heard among the noise of the world around them, they became more frustrated because they were not sure if they were being understood. Their ears and minds were filled with their own gripes and complaints of how the world around them has mistreated them. Their chirps and tweets were sounding repetitive and pretty much a blur to the point they really could not hear or listen to what each of them were saying. They certainly could not understand what they were feeling or thinking. The same birds still sitting in their safe haven unwilling to venture out to meet and find closer trees or even share a tree within it's branches continued chirping to a point of testing each other's responses in between the noise of other birds chitter. Though the could see each other at a distance they seemed to be waiting for the right response to trigger a flight together. After much discourse of chirping and twittering they learned that they both were acting too picky and selective in their approach yet they knew they were from the same species. The male may have looked somewhat more prominent but the female felt she was not good enough not pretty enough not smart enough to impress the her counterpart. Funny thing is the male felt the same way that no matter how handsome he was he felt he could not impress his counterpart. So, there they sat upon the tree of life at a distance chirping away complaining about what they don't have or what they don't want or whining about their past mistakes, victimizing each other in one form or another chirping and crying for love and to be loved and understood. Yet all the while pushing away that which they crave the most. Insanity at its finest!!
