Web love turned to attempted murder
Darren Couser found love on the internet. But the woman who took his heart later tried to take his life.
He was just 22 when he first made contact with English woman, Sarah King.
The 20-year-old became Darren`s lover after an internet romance.
A year later she almost became his killer.
At first Darren thought it was love.
The young couple moved into a flat together in Monkstown, Co Antrim.
But their relationship soon soured and nothing could prepare Darren for what happened in June 2007:
"She just kept arguing and arguing, I decided to ignore it and go back into the bedroom and just lie down. Then she followed me and told me she hadn`t finished with me yet.
She grabbed the tie sitting on the door knob and then strangled me. I tried in vain to get the tie off my neck but I couldn`t, it was that tight."
Darren passed out on the bed, and as he lay unconscious King tried to make it look like suicide.
She even faked messages on his phone in a desperate attempt to cover her tracks.
But Darren came round:
"She was standing over me looking down on me from the bed. She was glaring at me with these evil eyes. I asked why did she do it and she said nothing."
It was King who rang for an ambulance and were only found out when Darren was able to tell police what really happened.
Last week she was jailed for seven years for attempting to murder Darren:
"I don`t know what possessed her. I gave her a home, gave her everything she wanted and her`s what I got in return for it.
Anyone who trys to find love over the internet should really get to know the people that they`re getting involved."
