Clever Ms LL is absolutely right - banks will charge you commission to exchange, just draw some cash from a machine as soon as you arrive.
There are always machines in airports.

just make sure its a bank atm card you have and not buliding socity aib ulter or boi be ok

Go to the cheque cashing centre in Liverpool they take no commission and you get exactly the penny/pound to your cent/Euro...

Not sure Ive always used my ATM card to get non euro money abroad now it could have a cirrus logo on it alright most of the ATM cards these days have the facility.

Electron are less common....
Do not change money at the airport.....
Can also change money in a Post Office and that is usually commision free...
