HavinFuninTx: My back yard! (When it is mowed and not all died back from drought!)
My yard grass hasn't been this decimated in years... the month of June was the worst this summer I swear! Even watering it daily with sprinklers wasn't enough to save it.
Some of it is finally starting to grow back just now, since we've finally started having near weekly rains again. But as soon as the weather turns cold it's going to stop growing again... eeek!
My pond by the house is still some 3 feet below the overflow drains however. I don't know when it'll finally fill up again.
umm...can i brag. My grass is very green and since it keeps raining and raining and raining I haven't been able to mow and it's up past my knees. Granted I'm short but that's still pretty tall.

LOL! ROF!
Maybe you should try a motorboat instead of a lawn mower?
Texas Ren Fest stays on the list !!! This Saturday was pirate saturday I had an absolute blast !!! Tartanic put on a great show as well as Wine and Alchemy. I might be able to make a second round on the barbarian weekend. To soon to tell yet.
Here are some of my favorite restaurants in Texas.
Rudy's Bar B Que. Love the brisket sandwiches!!! Turkey, sausage and pork are good too. They also have a spectacular green chile stew that really hits the spot on a "chilly" day
Freebirds. Build my own burrito with chicken, black beans and mild sauce. Very yummy!!!!
Frutellas Itallian Restaurante. It's only here in Bryan and absolutely superb!!! Their sauce is zestifully sweet!! I love it. (I may not have spelled frutellas correctly)
Dixie Chicken is only here in College Station. Killer grilled cheeses and cheeseburgers!!!
Conan's Pizza...I beleive is only in Austin and hands down the best pizza I've ever had.
San Fransisco Steakhouse...you just have to experience the atmosphere!! Food was good as well.
Naturally there are the nationwide chains as well...Texas Roadhouse, Logans Steak house, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Macaroni Bar and Grill, Jason's Deli, Quiznos, and I'm sure I'll think of more after I click the post button.
Actually, my MOST fav places in Tx got destroyed years ago. One was a wooden fishing pier just on the other side of the ferry in Bolivar. Tropical Storm something or other. The other, Tx Dot destroyed. It was a protected artificial 'reef' at the entrance to the ferries' landing on the Bolivar side. They removed it and put in something you cannot walk on.
I don't really like ocean, myself. Just like to fish in it. As compared to lakes and streams, the fish are easier to catch and locate.
If I were to just go someplace to look at stuff, driving out Texas towards New Mexico is pretty dang nice.
I would not mind salt water kayaking. I tried in a fresh water lake. It was pretty nasty water. I would not mind hooking to a large redfish and let it take me for a ride.
I actually have two. (1) Kyle field at an AGGIE football game there is nothing like it and you wont find it anywhere else. (2) Big bend nat park it is very very beautiful
I am staying in Houston and I have been to Corpus Christi recently. I LOVE Corpus Christi ! The air is more humid but i liked it very much. Wind is not so harsh as in Houston, it feels softer i think. and I loved the ferry, and everything actually! I want to go there again! Well, I defenitely will when the summer break begins!
The easier question would be, "What's not to like about Texas?". I can't think of anything. But Possum Kingdom is a place that I never have a dull moment at and floating down the Guadalupe is always a blast!
