mad4tar: i was asked when went in about 3 day week so tell them nothin is what i say

Heading for trouble then!!! Questions are asked for a reason. Not answering them, or not giving information asked for means you won't get paid.

Giving wrong information is considered fraud and you can be prosecuted.

I'd always take my chances with Social Welfare tbh, from what I've heard the more agreeable and truthful you are the more difficult they make life for you...

I'm not advocating fraud by any means but 'less is more' when it comes to giving information to social welfare...

People pay tax for a reason and are entitled to take what is rightly theirs when they hit the wall so to speak...

Not true Rees.

I don't know where you heard all that crap. But believe me..false information is ALWAYS found out. Give whatever information you are asked for or is relevant.

Oh absolutely give the information they request but give it sparingly and only if asked for!

Besides, given the demand being placed on their resources at the present time a lot of claims will slip through the net...

I'm fortunate that I had sufficient contributions paid to qualify for Jobseekers' Benefit so I didn't have to go through the whole means testing process applicable to Jobseekers' Allowance.

mad4tar: dare i suggest strike

Social welfare staff very rarely even contemplate striking. There was a strike a few weeks ago. Staff worked even harder the next day to make up for it.

The powers that be brought down the computers early and then told the media that payments were late because of the strike.

The strike had no effect whatsoever on payments..over 1 million payments made every week. 20 were late because of the computers going down..not the strike.

Also..our unions are absolute crap.

Rees_Hession: Hey wex, hang on, of course I acknowledge that the SW staff are working extremely hard and are very helpful, courteous etc - I never said anything to the contrary.

I just said that living off government assistance isn't good for one's confidence/morale and that the SW office can be a depressing place to be.

The SW staff should be glad that they have a job after all

oh i like the bit at the end...... rolling on the floor laughing if ever u can head to flannerys ive a vacancy for a wing man lol
