I just found out my Dad is in hospital in Rhyl, Wales and I need to know how to get there if he doesn't improve by morning.
So if anyone knows the nearest port or airport to Rhyl can you let me know?

They're not sure how serious it will turn out to be. He has a broken cheekbone and a bleed in his brain.
He is in intensive care and they have him fasting and off his warfarin in case he needs emergency surgery. He is 84 so they are reluctant to operate until they have to.

I think (after googling it) that Fishguard is closer but you are likely to get more frequent flights into Liverpool from Dublin so maybe a better bet.

I will know in the morning if I need to go. My son is starting Leaving cert on Wednesday so you can imagine the state my head is in right now.

By the way Liverpool airport is one and half hour from Rhyl, and if you go by this you get the airport bus 500 to train station and get train to Rhyl...
The closest port is Holyhead and approx 40 minutes or less by train..
fishguard is south wales, so woudnt be the best option...
manchester airport is 2 hours from rhyl and train leaves directly from airport...
just few options to explore and my prayers are with your father and you.., take care

Thanks Aimee but my brother just rang and he found a b&b recommended by his son-in-law. It's only a few minutes from the hospital. They are holding rooms for us all week til Friday if we need them.

Just on here waiting for an email from my brother.
Dad is stable this morninga and showing signs of improvement. He is staying concious a little longer and is talking. They will do further tests today and another MRI tomorrow to check if he needs surgery or if they can avoid it.
