I am cooking one of those in 2 weeks time and here is my menu.
Starter Sweet figs with Buffalo mozzarella cheese and tomatoes.
Main course Peppered Steak with potatoes and maybe some veg.
Desert Sticky Toffee pudding.
All washed down with a bottle or 2 of red wine.

The person I am cooking for loves the menu and can't wait.

Baked salmon I think is trhe handiest,,,: mix in a bowl garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice and parsley to make the marinade, Pour marinade over salmon fillet, covering it entirely. put it in the fridge for 1 hour, stir it every so often set the oven to 375 degrees, Wrap the fillets in tin foil, and put the butter on top.stick in the oven for about 35 to 45 minutes.

And M&S do the best chocolate muffins heat them and serve with ice cream... Mmmmmmm

No fuss dinner!!!!

Get aload of veg -peppers onions carrots parsnip mushrooms and baby spuds lash them into a roasting tray into the oven to roast them. Then get a tub of pesto and just before you serve the veg throw in the pesto and serve it with a nice steak or chicken and some nice fresh crusty bread and a side salad.
You can do all the prep on that early on in the day the veg can take anything from 20-40 mins to do depending on your oven and how big you chop them. You cant go wrong with an apple pie or tart and ice cream for afters. Just throw it in the oven when you have turned the oven off after the veg are done and it will be nicely warmed by the time you are finished your main meal.

You don't cook the sweet figs. Here is what ya do.

6 green figs 12 small balls of fresh mozzarella.
2 or tomatoes.
1/3 cup fruity extra-virgin olive oil.
1 tsp. lemon juice
Wash the figs and remove the little stems with a paring ash the greens.
Pull each fig gently in half and then place around the edges of the plate.
Cut the tomatoes into slice and place in a ring around the plate.
Arrange the cheese on top of the tomatoe as well. Sprinkle with a little extra olive oil, a few drops of lemon juice, and the coarse salt.

I also forgot that you can heat up some nice bread and add it on the side.
