I have been to Malaysia absolutely loved it, and even for a male the shopping is incredible in Kuala Lumpor. Family & friends have been to Thailand and have highly recomended going there.Whoops sorry this isnt making it any easier but whichever you choose I am sure you will have a fabulous time

I'm in Kuala Lumpur right now, and I've visited Malaysia a few times. But over the last few years, while I've been rattling around Asia, I've spent a lot of time in Thailand, and I'd strongly recommend it. Although, I've avoided seedy touristy places like Pattaya.

I'll back that, and take the time to point out that Lankawi is way different from the rest of Malaysia, more relaxed and more Chinese around town.
A short trip with a "tin can" of a Jet-boat brings you to a small city in Thailand where shopping is great.
For holiday with a pearl - Lankawi is sure to be the place
