Sorry to hear this Gilly...I have a friend who is an alcoholic and it is heartbreaking to watch it destroy her whole life.... 
We're battling it with one of my parents at the moment!! And you have to make some of the hardest choices ever!! And we are dragging a loved one to Saint Lomans tomorrow to sign them in!! So no they can't just stop it if they like it doesn't work like that!!
