I have three big fears that are hovering on the verge of phobia.
Snakes (Ophidiophobia). I know you're probably thinking...when are you going to come across snakes in real life. Well it's at the stage I can't look at certain films, TV programmes or adverts even if I think a snake might appear. My fear stems from being on holiday once and a cabaret artist mingled with the audience with a snake in tow. He proceeded to put the snake around my neck and shoulders. I went into full panic attack mode and collapsed.
Rats (suriphobia). The same as the snakes, I can't stand to see them. I have nightmares about them. my friend's father had Weil's Disease a few years ago and I think my fear of rats stems from that.
Being buried alive (Taphephobia). I haven't a clue where this one originated. I think maybe I read too much Edgar Allan Poe . My children have sworn an oath that when the time comes and I pop my clogs, that they will have me cremated not buried (not that I would know). I would rather burn than be buried alive.
Has anyone else any strange irrational fears or phobias?
