Ralf74: I was a volunteer in the Queensland SES. I was the communications and administration leaders. I went on aerial searches in helicopters looking for plane wreckages in the rainforest, I abseiled out of a helicopter, off bridges and down cliffs, I did searches for lost bushwalkers, did cyclone cleanups and training activities.
I am also a blood and organ donor. I am also about to sign up for a mentor for young families.

some of you obviously do some valuable and interesting work or might be thinking of doing some...but don't know whats involve or any information the organisations ( THANKS ONCE AGAIN AVEIM ) !
so why don't you all try and talk for a bit longer about

2. what was life like for you before that ?
3. what you feel you get out of doing what you do ?
4, what the organisations like ?
5. do you like or hate the other volunteers ?
6. does your face fit ?
7.what you feel the organisations have recently gained ?

steve6611: I was a member of the Country Fire Service ( South Australian Volunteer Fire Service for Bushfires).
from 1980 - 1987 I was a member of the Tea Tree Gully Brigade 1988 - 1994 I was a senior officer for Region 2 Communications Brigade.
1994 - 2000 Senior Communications officer for Tea tree Gully brigade
Some of the major fires I attended were
Ash Wednesday ( including being on a tanker which erupted after a fireball)
Blue Mountains
in the summer of 1986-1987 we attended 175 fires in 3 months in our region alone.
I have coached football, soccer, basketball, netball & cricket teams
I have been an active member of the national Trust

5. is your government into helping charities? ( i'm asking you this avecaim not anybody else because i love listening to YOU )! do they FINACIALLY encourage charities and voluntary organizations as much as they should ?
6. do you think that the united states is a caring society on the whole compared to places like the united kingdom ?
7. what do you think about the work that Michelle Obama does ?
8. what does she actually do ?
9. what's with this healthcare system Barrack Obama wants to push through then ? and does that include helping the voluntary services financially ?
10. a few years ago when i was doing ( which i still do ) film theory courses at a university there was the university volunteer service , we started to help make short voluntary promotional films for charities ..but the universty closed the voluntary services down as i was just in the process...anyway maybe i'll talk more about that privately

Having been a volunteer I know the drought of volunteers is caused by red tape. I like to help out in emergencies and not worry about insurance or god forbid get sued for helping out bloody ridiculous.

My kids are St John ambulance volunteers.
