candio: I was the same way. Left with the clothes on our backs. No money, bank accounts or car. I may have stayed in a shelter but it was for a very short time until I had EARNED enough to get an apartment. I didn't parade men around my children. I remained single and didn't date until they were almost 18. I never tried for or received a single dime from their father. He never bothered to check to see if the kids were even dead or alive. HE DIDN'T GIVE A DAMN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. Such a poor victimized father that he was.

Just do comment on that single woman are quick and easy to jump into a relationsship. Don't know about that. I have been single for 8 years now. I had one relationsship in all this time. I scheduled my dating when my kids was with my ex-husband with whom I by the way get along just fine.

It is very often thrust upon them.
My children are all well adjusted and my oldest is a member of MENSA (I doubt u even know what that is)
I, for one, am extremely careful who i introduce my children too, as a revolving door of men in my life sets a bad example + can be heartbreaking + confusing for kids when they are little.

I do think the OP was about single PARENTS, not single mothers.
Hey listen, none of us are here to agree the system is perfect by any means, humans will be human and make decisions that they may think, but are not necessarily, in the best interests of the child.
Father, mother, judge or social worker.
