I always thought that hunters could have jobs in slaughteries.
Would`nt that be a dream job???

Shooting endless numbers of pigs and cows every day? And chickens.

Mac and Jock were out on the moors shooting pheasant when Mac stumbled and toppled to the ground hitting his head.

Of course this frightened Jock because - as he bent down and lifted Mac’s eye-lids his eyes began to roll. In a panic, Jock took out his mobile and called the emergency services.” My friend is dead he screamed down the phone to the operator, what shall I do?"

In a soothing voice the operator, asked Jock to calm down and let’s first make sure he's dead." There was a moment of silence and the operator heard a shot. Then picking up his mobile Jock said "OK, now what?"

The onlu way I understand hunting is when it is a matter of survival.

And then I do not go for hunters argument abount keeping the amount of animals down. Who disturbed the balance....

Those venison tenderloins were delicious, and went great with the wild turkey taken earlier, in the spring. Heck, if I'd lived close enough to taxachusetts I could have gone down to the cranberry bogs and saved a bit more money.

No, not Vegans, I am a meat eater. The opinions expressed are personal ones and should never be belittled.

Many people believe hunters for SPORT are cruel and barbaric. There is a subtle difference in hunting for food as opposed just to go and shoot an animal for the fun of it.

And, for you to say we know not of what we talk about, shows your ignorance...BUT that is your opinion to which you are entitled to express.

i do care for both animals and people. i think hunting is an appropriate way to feed families, with so many of my local friends unemployed or in financial distress. rule is if you kill it you must eat it. most hunters i know do enjoy the sport but really need the food. i feel the same about fishing.

if my answer is ignorant to the sportsman who are not interested in eating what they kill, it's because i don't get that part at all

This thread is an interesting one.

I have lived in Colorado and seen the devastation caused by not keeping the dear and elk heard in check. I have seen disease run rampant and believe me, there are not enough wolves out there to keep this population in check. Yes, we probably took it completely out of balance by killing off the predators but that means we have to keep this in check. I do not go along with the idea of eliminating the hunt. I do not want to chastise the hunter who hunts for food.

Secondly, I have worked in a slaughterhouse and you do not want to see how this affects the men on the kill floor. It really changes them and not to the better. So be careful what you ask for.

Lastly, I respond as a man who is trying to drastically reduce my red meat consumption. I am not a vegetarian but I do not eat flesh more than twice or three times a month. The reduction in Omnivore status is not based on philosophy but on health.

The difference between the Sportsman and One who kills "for the fun of it" is not at all "subtle"
Visit a slaughter house and tell me commercial animals have a better life than those taken in the wild by Hunters who love and respect fish and game.
I kill with Reverence.Cleanly and quickly.I eat what I kill or share it.
A gift of meat or fish is special to those who cannot afford to buy it.As my taste for meat declines with time I make ever more such gifts. They are well recieved.
To suggest that we who hunt and fish kill"for the fun of it"or that we are "cruel and barbaric" demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the passion behind the so-called "Blood Sports"
Anyone who would kill an animal and let it waste gets no sympathy from me.
You dont need canine teeth to subdue a turnip. They are there because you evolved from a long line of carnivores.
Pass the Turkey.
