it's something thats earned. both ways
i expect it from people im loyal too... people i respect,, which they have earned,,,dont know if a person can earn loyalty in that respect,,, what it means ,,, well,,i suppose it means being there through thick and thin for someone,,,something very rare

Loyalty means a lot to me. I am loyal to my friends family, and organisations that are close to my heart. However like Respect it has to be earned and the right to loyalty can be forefeited through our actions.

Not necessarily. Loyalty can also be to organisations such as a sporting club, a political party, a trade union, a church etc. Of course people from these organisations can be classed as friends but that doesn't take from the loyalty you feel to such organisations.
