I took a train to Perth in Scotland to meet a girl I had contacted through teletext. I stood outside the station waiting for her to collect me. I had never met her before and had no idea what she looked like.
I watched cars coming and going asking myself each time, Is this her? Finally this delapidated red Ford Fiesta pulled into the station car park with 4 unwashed kids, a dog and a rather large woman driving. We all spent a day in the park together and then I made my excuses and left. I'm afraid I was younger then and when she phoned me, let's say I wasn't too diplomatic. I really should have let her down more gently and even typing this I feel a twinge of shame.
I'm glad I'm not young any more.
