Capello has already named Rio Ferdinand as the new England Captain. As for having the audacity to appeal a ban again, i think he has every right to considering Liverpool's Javier Mascherano got away without even being charged for what was a similar incident against Leeds in September, when the Argentinan caught Jermaine Beckford on the head.
As for him forgetting to take a drug test, he did try to go back and take the test but the testers had already left. He even offered to take a test 36 hours later and he was told he couldn't. Lets not forget he served a lengthy ban even though he wasn't found guilty of anything except absent mindedness.
To be honest, I thought Gerrard would have got the england captaincy after Terry but Rio Ferdinand was vice captain so it seems like a natural progression i suppose....

Rooney's a legend but i don't think being captain would suit him. i think he's best left doing what he does best - playing football. i think Gerrard should have got it. he's going through a bad spell - but who hasn't

I just think you need a captain who is full of confidence, and i can assure you Gerrard has no confidence at the moment..

Yeah Lampard wouldn't make a bad captain. As for Rooney, i definitely reckon he's one for the future but might not be mature enough yet.

thats true .....plus world cup in june so he has time to get back to his best form

Yeah i agree. I think Rooney is playing the best football of his life at the moment and to make him England captain might put too much pressure on him too soon.

Gerrard is a quality player and yes he will bounce back, and when he does he should be captain..
