FullIrish: muscle pain i think, I messed my back up a few years ago and whenever i do anything physical like lifting or shovelling im in agony

ok well anything cold can do very bad damage to it so make sure you keep the area very warm at all times.
Rest is the main thing to be honest.
And now and again, do a muscle stretch, put your 2 hands binded together , reach your hands as far up above your head as possible and then bend down slowly and touch your toes keeping your legs dead straight and slightly apart.
Do that 10 times every hour.

FullIrish: I wont be doing muscle stretches when I have this pain

But when this diclac kicks in it shouldnt be so bad

If the pain is that bad, all you can do is make sure you keep the area warm.
Heat relaxes the muscle, dont be up and about too much, be lying down if possible.
There is not much else you can do man, its a sensitive area.

A pain in your back could be an awful lot of different things, a sliped disk, a traped nerve, siatica, a damaged muscle, so many other things aswell.........my advice would be get to a professional to diagnose what excatly is wrong. Take it from me, Ive alot of experience with back problems, if your not careful you could end up with long term damage if its not looked after.

Deep heat can only be used before or after exercise.
If your exercising, its fantastic.
But if not, dont use it.
