Only seen the second half but thought Rooney played really well, showed great desire and comes across that he is playing the game for the love of it.

Yeah, but did you hear that he gave Nani a bollicking???
After the match, he said some people didnt perform, that was at the ref and at Nani.

Yeah Nani had a crap game and you could see the difference when Valencia came on. It was his first touch that provided the pass for Rooney to put United ahead. I didn't think Evra and Evans played particularly well in the first half either. I thought Evra was at fault for their first goal. I'd say both of them got a rollicking at half time.

Nani has played some great football in the last three or four games prior to last night but he has a long way to go to prove he is worthy of a first team place.

Yeah he had a few good games, but thats not good enough.
I say boot him. He can be an awful liability at times.

If he keeps this up, he will get world player of the year in my opinion.

dubsforsam: i doubt that seriously mate its hard enough to understand fergie wen he speaks without a lipreader ......and if that was the case why not whip him off at halftime and bring brown on ? plus in the first half hour the whole team was off the pace bigtime milan should have had been 2 or 3 nil up at that stage

I will have no partake in a conversation with you man, all you try to do is twist peoples words and start an argument.

Because you rarely see managers taking off defenders off at half-time or before half-time if they can help it i.e. unless there is an injury. I think they feel it may unsettle the defence even further. Anyway i think the defence played much better in the second half so there was real need and it was the correct decision not to make any changes in defence up to that point. Besides, Brown was just coming back from injury and Fergie probably thought it was a risk to have him play 45 minutes in his first game back. I think he only came on late last night to give him a bit of a run out but it might be another week or two before we see him starting a game.

As for Rooney, I'd say if United win the champions league, Rooney will get European player of the year and maybe even World Player of the year. It usually goes to a player on the winning team of the champions league final. Well at least it has done in the last few years anyway.

As for Nani, I wouldn't be too quick to offload him just yet. He has had a few good games for United this season and has had more of an opportunity to show what he can do since Ronaldo left. Nani did have a bad game last night but it was the first bad game he has had in a while so i think its better to wait and see.
