Why is it that so many people write no drugs on their profile, while alcohol is not only the most accepted drug of all time, but is also the most abusive, causing everything from physical violence, car accidents, damage to vital organs, not to mention the enormous cost on our health system.
I just don't get why society will never recognize that alcohol will never be listed socially as a drug in my lifetime. Just because it's legal and it has been used like a drug from thousands of years ago, as nearly every religion invites it freely, doesn't make it something other than what it is - the most abused and costly drug of all time!

It's nothing to do with government. Actually, Chretian tried to legalize pot before he left office. Mulroney, of course, kiboshed that and remember, he's the one that gave all of us that blessed 7% GST tax.

I personally consider alcohol just like cigarettes as a drug and some tend to want to associate it to street drugs but if you want to push the meaning of drugs then many substances are considered drugs such as vitamins, hormones, coffee and some will even go as far as saying oxygen.
In my case and probably many think this way, people who say they are drug free I take it as meaning they don’t consume street drugs (illegal drugs) though they could be consuming something else such as medication that are drugs. I think if you take the true meaning of drugs into context then every human being takes drugs.
As for alcohol I also agree with you that it has destroyed many lives, many families and it affects societies but man/woman should be given the freedom and liberty to choose. Now having said this I’m personally not for the legalization of street drugs because the elected government also has the role and responsibility to protect societies and especially those under age. Would legalizing street drugs be the way to go, I don’t think so though I sometimes wonder.
Alcohol and cigarettes are legal drugs should street drugs become legal, I don’t know what the outcome would be. It would certainly reduce crime and the drugs would probably be safer as far as knowing what’s in them; would it open the door to more people wanting to try them, it’s a hard question to answer.

They can make money off weed if they legalize it. There is enough weed in the world they don't need to touch the chems. It's already kinda legal with medicinal weed, but it's only for a select few. In BC if they catch you with 1/4 or less, they just take it and let you go.

I don't drink at all..never cared for it. I see stupid on alcohol and think that's so not for me.
