i think because meeting someone over the net and planning to meet them in person is more nerve racking due to the fact people are wary of the identity of the person they might feel a bit worried that the person they meet might be a totally diffrent person in personality when they meet its also could be the fact that they think if it doesnt go well the person will go to the forums and tell everyone
internet can get you to meet the right person but its just more likely the chance of being stood up
