Englishman55: Maybe that's where I went wrong then, because I was always the first one out of bed during the night when either of my boys were crying, to give my ex the time to sort herself up and wake up, maybe get a drink or go to the bathroom.
I guess the reason why she cheated was that she fell out of love with me and in love with someone else.
After 30 years she just got bored....... started going through her mid-life crise and fancied some excitement in her life while this idiot paid for it all.
I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and know that I could have done things different.
Like pay her more attention, instead of working 14/16 hour days to afford the lifestyle she wanted.
I know that in her eyes I am totally to blame for her infidelity, as she keeps telling everyone it's all my fault.
I will take some of the blame........ even upto 50% of it, but even that I reckon is unreasonable.

Oh, I took all the blame, not 50 % with the “right” (by your standards) father: it was my fault that the child has been born premature, hence it was my job take care of it, and as the “right” father needed sleep, I was to sit with the baby in the kitchen all the night in order not to disturb his sleep. And as I lost that marriage on knock down, I guess that by your standards, he can be called a “right” husband as well.
