Crystalfyre: Just a little add, if you simmer the vinegar and bicarb gently in the abused pot(after the night soaking)it usually isnt very hard to remove ;-)
Aaah so there was a little add on that no one told me about. Thanks I shall remember step two for future use when I forget about the Potatoes AGAIN.

Tomato sauce will also clean the bottom of copper saucepans leaving them nice and shiny real quick. Don'recommend saving sauce after use for the fish & chips.
