SereneGreen: Without resorting to letting them starve (which believe me has been considered as a last resort!) I am becoming more and more frustrated with my childrens lack of enthusiasm to try new things and my lack of enthusiasm to come up with inventive and tasty recipies to incorporate said new things, which include;

Eggs....tried scrambled, fried, boiled, poached no joy!
Salad and veg other than potatoes, carrots and sweetcorn
tomatoes
fish(even though I can't eat it)
slightly spicy saucesHas anyone any easy to make recipies using one or other of the above that I can try tempt my two children into eating

I wish I could but no clue dunno my little sister went through a ''yellow phase'' when she was younger won't eat anything unless it was yellow confused she's still the pickest eater I know! My sisters are the same situation with her kids, good luck

Primula: my daughter wont eat vegetables at all, I`ve tried everything apart from shoving them down her throat that is
She just doesnt like the taste of them and I cant force her, Her grandmother never ate vegatables, she never liked the taste of them either and shes 92 years old so there must be hope for her

....Penelope leach (one of the child "experts") tells the story of a lil boy , who drove his mum spare coz all he'd ever eat was sausages! When he grew up, he became a chef...and now will eat everything...except sausages!laugh

I was a shockin picky eater as a kid....but now can eat anyhting except seafood...

There are ways round the prob....liquidising veg and incorporating this into meals..eg lasagne.....

I think kids go thru a phase of it....and the most important thing to remember is NEVER let mealtimes become an issue..a battle of wills.....coz that can lead to long term probs.....

Now what am I gonna cook for dinner?laugh confused

well B....

my little one was always a picky eater.. but.. ever since shes started preschool.. her meals are varied and she eats a lot of different meals for me.. but have to say.. she loves raw carrots.. even goin around the shop she wud pick one up and munch it..

but easy way to get them to eat...

would you not let them help you prepare the veg and show them how to cook them.. that way they wud be interested in even tryin something they cooked..

i tried this with H... and she eats really wel for me..

Just a suggestion

hope it helps..

silly question but have you asked your kids what new foods they would like to try? dunno thats what we did with my kids nd as a previous sugestion states we got them to cook it with us nd as a result over the years they started to experiment with cooking div foods them selves so now not only do they eat most foods they also know how to cook em thumbs up

I think kids need something visually appetising.. There are fun ways of using eggs! For example you could make an omelette but let the kids decide what they want to put on the omelette and let them spread the ingredients over it. They will see it as a fun activity and in turn will love to eat it.

For salads maybe get them to try out a few salad dressings and if they like one they will like it on the salad.

Fish!! Get some smoked haddock with white or parsley sauce, with mashed potatoes and peas. If you cover the fish in the sauce , of they like the sauce they will have no problems eating the fish.

Spicy food might be tricky but i would suggest making crispy battered chilli chicken , start off lightly spiced and as they get to like it increase the spice content and they will then get used to a spicy taste in their mouth which would help with other spicy foods in the future.

All in all, it must be tough work beer
