That is very sad. Unfortunately suicide among young people is on the rise and the HSE seems either unwilling or unable to address the issue

Yeah it has gone far far beyond the joke at this stage! I must have come across about 15-20 suicides in my short lifetime already that were people i knew well. Why is there such a huge suicide rate in this country?

Why arent things being done to "try" help the situation. I emphasise the word "try" because it is a very hard thing to try to fix! Between cancer, suicide and road fatalities in this country, it is becoming a gloomier country by the day! blues

Sorry to hear of your friend death, below is a lovely passage by Kahlil Gibran

You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Suicide, a long term solution to a short term problem. Mainly young men take their own lives in the Vacume of any help being available. Young men need support networks just like anyone else, however very few speak to friends, family or Aware because many fear opening up and sharing problems. This very act is what can save so many young men because sharing that problem brings help, support, understanding and finally a realisation that its not as bad as you one believed.

For anyone feeling this low, PLEASE contact AWARE.. They can and do help

You're absolutely right. You may have heard of a young woman in Wexford who drowned herself and her two children in the river a couple of years ago. She did this only hours after being refused help at Ely Hospital. How horribly sad. And a typical example of the failure of the HSE and our government to do their jobs.

Sorry, don't mean to bring you down, hope yr ok
