this is gonna be a long one so first off sorry blushing

heres the problem
theres 17 people in my year and as you would expect there are smaller groups of friends in the class. myself and one other girl are quite good friends and we sit together, theres groups of 3s and 4s then for the rest. anyway whats happened is they have gone as a "class" to the head of our department about two of our lecturers without telling myself or my friend.

the issue with the first lecturer is she is from another college and as such her notes are property of that college so she gave us different ones that arent as good yet they still have all we need. our "class" took it upon themselves to complain even though we had been told numerous times the reasons why we had different notes. this resulted in the lecturer being given out to as the department head wasnt told the full story and the lecturer made a point of it yesterday. needless to say shes not impressed with our "class"

second lecturer is only new this year and had to fail some people on a practical class as they put themselves/equipment in danger and didnt realise it. so the "class" have gone again to the department head to complain about this lecturer saying shes no good at her job and doesnt know anything.

the main issue at the moment for myself and my friend is we werent consulted on either matter yet our opinions were given. we wouldnt have known about the second lecturer only a member of second year asked us if anything had happened yet after the department head was told.

so after that massive essay, im left wondering what to do? do we have it out with the class? do we forget about it till it happens again?(this isnt the first time its happened us just the first time this year)

what would you do??

yeah they went and said the whole class have agreed on this and it now turns out they have also got the second years to join the complaint on the second lecturer. i was very tempted to just let loose at them today but i didnt. we did talk to the second lecturer and told her this had nothing to do with us and she basically said shes so disapointed that a group of so called adults ranging in age from 19 to 39 couldnt come to her with issues about her but chose instead to go over her head twice as they didnt even go to our course director they went right to the top. its really got me worked up now very mad

Sal, my suggestion is that you let the lecturers know that you were not involved in whatever has been going on and that through your class rep, let the message filter out that you do not wish to be mis-represented by others .. you and your friend stick together .. making a bigger issue of what has happened could alienate the two of you and make classroom life intolerable ..... You are obviously a sensitive person and this has upset you ......

yeah we have made a point of telling them were not involved but i was just far too annoyed about it today to even talk to the rest of the class so i figured it was best leave it till monday till id calmed down. im a laid back person at most times but when its something like someone making a decision for me without consulting me then i get annoyed about it. with the way i felt earlier i couldnt have cared less if the rest of the class didnt talk to me but at the same time now iv calmed down a bit iv changed my mind on that doh

Mind yourself ..... time allows a re-think and a more objective view

They didn`t tell you big deal,
get over it, If it was me I wouldn`t have even wanted them to ask for my opinion on it at all and if they did ask I would tell them to cop themselves on and stop being bollixes to the lecturers, The lecturer did nothing wrong anyway, Its nonsense

go to the department head and talk to her in confidence
oh and try and make friends with the rest of the class too
it will be good for yer confidence
theres a reason why they didnt consult you
thye may see you as snobby or aloof or they could just be a**hole
who knows
ppersonjally i think youre sound but maybe youre lack of confidence stops you from making friend swith the in crowd

yeah im thinking that we should have like a class meeting and find out why they said what they said and why they didnt consult the entire class. i understand they are annoyed about failing but at the end of the day its their own fault they failed, essentially they put peoples lives at risk including their own.

im glad i didnt say anything today cause i was really annoyed about it and may have said something id regret. i guess at the end of the day if they have decided they dont like me then thats fine with me and ill just continue being me. i know there is one girl that has a particular dislike for me but im still civil to her regardless
