There's a lot of rentals around at the moment and I'm sure somebody would do a short term let nearer the time.

If you want to get around and meet people then couch surfing looks a great option
and there are some good independent hostels around and the long term stays are upto 50% cheaper.

your welcome - I'm the other side of the country in Galway so not much help on Dublin stuff but I'm sure somebody will help you out if you've any specifics.
I have a friend with a house near Galway - she's working abroad, if you need somewhere to stay in the West for a week or whatever, I could give her a shout.
