Each hunting season since 1986 we go to the family camp in Lyman NH to hunt whitetail deer. The camp was a dream of my father which was fulfilled in 1985. After my father died Feb 1999, we began a tradition by having a toast each Thanksgiving weekend using his favorite brand of scotch. Last weekend, we added my brother Dan to that toast. This is the first hunting season without him and he's sorely missed.
For those who don't know, my brother Dan who was also a member here died this past June a few weeks after his 47th birthday due to heart failure.

What kind of traditions do you have?
When my children were still at home; every Christmas Eve, all the family would gather at my house. We would have cookies and hot chocolate; watch the kids open their "family gifts" and then we would order a pizza and celebrate my nephew's birthday. The kids loved it because they got to attend two parties in one day and the adults loved it because everyone was together and having fun. My nephew loved it because it meant that he still got a proper birthday party with a cake and birthday gifts and no one was allowed to give him a single gift and have it be for both his birthday and Christmas present.
After everyone would go home; my kids would get to open one more gift and they knew it would be pajamas from "Santa."

Sorry again for your loss Ray.
Traditions are very importan in my culture. We do celebrate: mother's, father's, the day of the death, every one's birthday (now we do it with a tiny little cake, because most everyone does not take all that fat and sugar),Christmas and many other more.
The one that I enjoy the most are birthdays with my children, because we go only with a couple of their very close friends and mine to our favorite restaurant and spend a wonderful time there with good food and great company.
