Does anyone have some horror stories on the mines in outback australia.

I'm getting depressed again. largely due to being unhappy in my job which is due to the new imbecile i have as a manager.(Mind you I've had him a year, But each day is just getting harder and harder to stir to).

And when I leave (If i leave) He will be hearing about it from every corner i can file a complaint from.

But anyway.

My Brother is working in the mines somewhere outside Kalgoolie.
And he has advised me of things i need to do if i decide to go for it.

The living conditions I believe i can handle. Being a loner i don't socialise much anyway. I would invest in a laptop and ensure each cycle off i get some reading material. But all i know is very general. Any research I do would generally only report positive things. What is behind the scenes that i should maybe aware of. Whether I can handle the heat is another matter.

If anyone has something they believe I should know about; please let me know. Its not a choice I'm running into. Just an opportunity that I'm considering as I seek to get myself out of the situation I find myself in. conversing

It sure is. My brother advised me of rates. And with no overheads it sounds very good if I took it on as a three year tour of duty.

Brother has offered me a room. Never asked what we pay for food on site. Assume it is deducted from our pay before we are paid out so money looks very good. No Kids blues crying and no wife to support blues So no overheads.

My house here would be place in agents hands and hope the rent charged covers the mortgage and they don't wreck things.

Big dollars for the right people! Here in the west there is a shortage of miners in all sections, most are FIFO, they even require cleaners and cooks! A mate at work just left to go work on barrow island as a garbo? Seams they need them also?

Current estimates are that 50 000 jobs will need to be filled in the next two years in the west alone!

I will be going up there once the kid is old enough, or leaves school?

There is also a mine site in Boddington in the south west that will be bigger than Kalgoorlie when its finished,

But not that we need anymore kiwis over here!

Its hot? Well warmer than what you are used too! And Perth is a really friendly city, so you wont be used to that either? And the night life is boring? The casino closes twice a year! And the roads are really bad! We don’t have half as many potholes as the rest of Australia and our roads are so straight up north you could actually put your car in cruise control and have a sleep behind the wheel?

Did I mention we have too many Kiwis now!
