The Grateful Dead played 5 songs at Woodstock yet never have I seen one clip of their performance. And did anyone know that Hendrix didn't play until the Monday after the historic weekend.
lostinspace: Who cares my friend it was history and a one all time event.:thumbs up:
anyone who actually knows the history cares, the concert was a statement of the times, imagine hearing the roar of thunder to look out the window of your home to see an endless precession of choppers turning into your driveway all heading on their way to Woodstock, some it was the many bands there that made history and some it was the meaning behind everything that made it be unforgotten, the answer to your question would be "Anyone in the US cared" either for or against what it stood for...

"Its been along time coming"
The JOURNEY is a happening thing word got out they walked, they rode, they drove they just had to get there
such a long time ago
Got to speak out, one said, if you dare to come
and they walked up country unaware to the world
Changed the world, it did! they gathered, they finally could unite
walls set in place, within an aching world of youth they had to come down, stripping that era of its comforting shell
Its been a long road and what better way,
"Hang on a minute, I have my own opinion,I shall voice"
and they descended Reflecting on the times should thoughts be amended?
"Something is wrong" So they marched
The music played "for three days man"!
The world was in need of this happening
from the thought that was ignited to challenging the anguish to what carried forth from it
what was internally born that it would indeed, in many ways, show the world
change
Without War
We as one can live with the present or change it

About this poem: Sydney was the man that contracted his land out to the woodstock festival. Very cool for back then! (He took risks) There were so many people there he couldn't leave his land to go into town, so he lived on cornflakes for 2 days. What better way, with all that background music

Same here. I tuened 13 10 days after Woodstock. The next year I heard of Woodstock and bought the album. I bought the DVD a coulpe of years ago, it still sounds great
paws4: It was. It was the 1rst ad-hock musical event that defined a new generation. It happened just 4 hours from me. I missed my ride due to too many drugs the night before. They tried to repeat it Altamont etc., it didn't work. It was a once in a lifetime "happening".
Monteray was the summer of 68. In England they had the Isle Of Wright I think in 71.
