Shell225: nice pic Tony... I had to go and look at your profile to see what the big red blob was Lovely rose bush ... is it yours? is that a pic in your garden?
Yes Sell, a rose with a rose scent you can smell as you walk past, wanna do some cuttings this winter and plant them all around, when I finish my retaining wall.

The scent is what makes home grown roses so wonderful. Mass produced blooms generally have no scent seems longer vase life and the perfect bloom came at the cost of perfume.
Do your roses have a name?
I took delivery of a rose bloom on Friday - it was a Grandiflora - called deepest purple. The bloom is utterly mind blowing ... took my breath away. Sadly no scent...

Ye sad some roses look gorgeous but no scent.I never buy them just cuttings from friends. Only ever bought 1 rose that was called Mr Lincon, not sure if I spelled that right, but funny name for a rose.

I inherited roses with my place, I know the names of some, Blue Moon (beautiful perfume), Just Joey, (good perfume but the bloom doesnt hold together long) and one of my favs that I dont know the name of starts as a beautiful clear rose pink and fades to a dusky purple as it ages. This one holds it blooms for ages and even when it is almost dried up is still beautiful.
Nothing like walking past someones garden and leaning over the fence and smelling the roses as you walk past

Ok, we better round up some solid numbers so we know who to look out for especially if there are going to be a few new faces. Put your hand up if you are a definite for the walkabout so we can do a head count.
