Blooms: Hi, im new to this forum business and if I may I'd like to say that this is a good question. Its all to easy for family members of existing or deceased T. D's to walk into the Dail. I recommended recently on the local radio station that nobody should vote for anyone running for government unless they have it as policy that they will pay their own expenses, - they get paid enough! I'd love to put a full page ad in the sunday papers to that effect but you'd have to be a politician to pay the price of it!
fully agree with you, they don't need expenses, we have to get out of the greed culture that exists in this country, to add balance to it though most people got greedy in the last few year

,. Thats true, but unlike the politicians they don't have fat salaries and lovely big pensions paid by the ordinary Joe Soap , to pay off those hefty mortgages and the people carrier loans they got. It's just come full circle , like life, ireland has had its splurge of fun and now its time to pay but the politicians are still out splurging the country's money on an election that wil vote in a dummy government, because everyone knows the E. U are in d driving seat now for the next few years ! ireland

homegnome: They have no experience or training in the job and yet get to make huge decisions that effect the lives of citizens in their constituencies and throughout the country.
Should lobbying politicians be made a crime? They only do it after all in the interests of a few self-interested business people.

While anyone can become a politician very few will make a go of it unless they are the offspring of a political dynasty or supported by the political gang of a political dynasty. Look at how many 'outsiders' sit in the Oireachtas.
