It is quiet simple why anyone can become a politician, because people vote for them.
I don't think lobbying politicians should be a crime, but it should be made more transparent.
It's about who you know and not what you know, that's why.

we havnt had anyone call at the door yet because they arent brave enough, our town is split down the middle for elections so were now west dublin meaning they have to travel further to get to us and couldnt be bothered cause they know they will get the heads chewed off them Should lobbying politicians be made a crime? Hi, im new to this forum business and if I may I'd like to say that this is a good question. Its all to easy for family members of existing or deceased T. D's to walk into the Dail. I recommended recently on the local radio station that nobody should vote for anyone running for government unless they have it as policy that they will pay their own expenses, - they get paid enough! I'd love to put a full page ad in the sunday papers to that effect but you'd have to be a politician to pay the price of it!
