An open question to anyone who was adopted and hasn't met their biological family yet:

Do you want to meet your biological family?

My answer to this question is: no.

However, it would still be nice to know what sort of ailments run in my biological family and if I have a high risk of developing these illnesses in the future.

(sub-question - if you are adopted and have met your biological family, and don't mind sharing your experiences here, how did it go for you?)

confused

hello there. I was adopted at the age of 2 wks. and i have no desire to find out who my biological parents are. I always said that if i were to ever look i would waituntil by adoptive parents were no longer around. They were good parents to me and i would never hurt them. Luckily they are still around so it hasn't become an issue. They health thing would be good to find out, but since i am old now that isn't and issue either. Take care.wave

Yes, I was adopted and yes as an adult I met my biological family -- well mother and siblings.

Great experience and we're all "family" now. My mothers like and respect each other, and I am amazed at how different our childhoods were..... And I feel so fortuante to have so much love in my life.

peace

That's good to hear. Glad it all worked out for you! wave

I have 2 friends who met their bio-parents and they were also happy with the outcome.. so it does make me wonder if I'd have the same success. So who knows, maybe someday I will look up bio-mom, I would certainly like to learn more about Hungarian & Romanian culture and how well I'd fit in with "my own kind" lol.

I was adopted at 3 years of age my grandparents raised me before then and I have little interest in meeting or knowing my biological parents although I have met and spend time with other members of my biological family in fact a large chunk of them live in vancouver so I spend holidays with them over my foster fam. So I guess it's all a matter of situation and wether you had an open or closed adoption.
