lifeisadream: Hi Pretty! It is difficult to see the positive side to the Japan's nuclear plant meltdown but there must be some. Perhaps, learning about safety procedures about installing nuclear plants???
Other than that, I see the good and positive side of life. I hope you and your daughter are fine.
Thank you so much lifeisadream...we are very well...hope you are very well too....
Yes, it's really very difficult to see the positive side to the Japan's nuclear plant meltdown...sometimes I really think what should we human being do on the earth? what does industry revolution brought us? what we lost?
Our ancestor didn't have cars (I don't have either...lol) didn't have electric, didn't have planes, but they have fresh air, they have very green vegitables and rice or flour...they have beautiful envirment to enjoy....
If let me select, I'd rather live in those old times with candles, yard, fresh air and clear water, no car no high building just like cement pole, no noisy... than live with pollution like this...smoke, dust,....even now you see the nuclear radiation....
Japan is very advanced in nuclear technology, even they can't handle this matter very well...we have many many nuclear plants in the world...in case other countries happen this kind of thing....can't imagine the result....

Human beings!!
One positive thing about the Japan's nuclear plant meltdown is the heroism of the 50 workers remaining in the plant to try to avoid a greater tragedy!
""They are the faceless 50, the unnamed operators who stayed behind. They have volunteered, or been assigned, to pump seawater on dangerously exposed nuclear fuel, already thought to be partly melting and spewing radioactive material, to prevent full meltdowns that could throw thousands of tons of radioactive dust high into the air and imperil millions of their compatriots.""

The negative side though is that they may die or became disabled and still may not be able to stop the meltdown. There is no good side to this disaster I am afraid, unless we are very cynical and say that there are too many people on this planet and it is good to get rid of some. But it is a terrible trade off, even if it may be true in a coldly rational sense. So, no, as far as we think from a position of love and compassion, there is nothing good about disasters.

Yes, but the ancestors apart of having fresh air and green vegetables had diseases, famines and short life span. There were natural disasters anyway. It was not all that rosy after all. And with the population over 6 billion and growing, we have no way back to those times. Nuclear energy may be the only alternative to sustain the life styles we have accustomed now. As well as intensive farming to feed all people. Where it will bring us, who knows.

I would not justify nor understand the death or the killing of anyone under disasters or other type of events, so I do agree with you on that.
We all are different persons and we aknowledge reality in a wide variety of colors. Those men in the nuclear plan doing every thing to prevent a bigger disaster, no matter what, including their lives, that is a positive example for me.
Because I wonder: Had I done the same? Would anyone have done the same? Would you have done the same?
I guess we will never know for sure until we are in a the situation to decide.

Thought-provoking - Japan being so advanced in nuclear technology, but having trouble with this situation - don't know how others would handle it, either - but good point you made..... Hopefully a lot will be learned from the situation, as we'll likely have nuclear plants & earthquakes continuing on down the road....

Yes, it is good to know that people are not all selfish. There are certain situations when you feel that you have to do the thing, even if it may be dangerous for your life. I think, I might be able to do it. Once I was in such situation along with many of my country people when we had to stand against military and protect our new acquired freedom. It was in Latvia in 1991. Many otherwise self interested people may feel that it is the right thing to do. I don't know if everyone would though.

oh...so...we have no way back to those old times? I didn't know that until you told me.... Thanks anyway...
I'm very emotional sometimes and speak a little exaggerated. If I were a poet, should be a romantic poet like libai instead of a realistic poet like Dufu....

I didn't get the information about the 50 heroes until yesterday. really heroes!
There are 20 among them ask to keep stay themselves positivly and other 30 people were assigned by their company. During the 20 ones, there is one man who is already 59 years old and he will be retired in half a year but he asked to keep stay to work in the deadly envirment. He said he is not regret for what he decided.
Though they wear the most advanced protective clothing, most of them will pass away within two weeks....what kind of terrible feeling will be when they are working knowing that they will leave the world after 2 weeks.... really really sad...I admire them so much!! they are really heros really men in the world...
