It certainly happens and I am curious to know: why do many people feel broken heart after his / her online partner decide to finish their relationship although they never meet each other?

They were hoping for more, it's as simple as that.

It is possible to establish a real connection of sorts online with someone, especially if confidences are shared and promises are made. The more people imagine and plan in their mind about what the relationship might be like, the harder the bad news is to take.

Ultimately, if you haven't met them, it's an infatuation and IMO, like any other infatutation, it's more chemical than rational.

IMO to be in a relationship I would have to meet them the usual way get to know them, get to see how they look, how they move the way they look at you, the tone of the voice the way they hold your hand, all those little nice things that make a good relationship must be experienced in person wine

Because they are human being with feelings....

Their is one way to avoid the online broken heart: don't trust anybody online, just assume all people are fake ones no matter how nice he/she is, then you will not be broken heart after your partner stop the relationship. Can you?conversing sigh maybe you cangrin

I just dont believe you can "fall in love" online...attraction or infatuation sure, but love requires and exchange of chemistry that only comes from face to face meeting. Until you meet in RL everything else is illusion IMO dunno

If you spend a lot of hours each day communicating on skype with someone over a period of several months, eventually the true personnality and character of the person shines through, good or bad. It's impossible for it not to. As long as one doesn't ignore the red flags to only focus on the lovey dovey stuff, I would say one can get to know someone fairly well. Of course till you meet face to face, no one knows for sure. I would say that initially it's possible to feel attracted and start having feelings for someone on line (skype)... time and continuous communication will either affirm that attraction and feelings till you meet face to face OR will slowly erode them so you don't get to meet face to face.

I had this experience once a few years ago. We didn't get to meet. I bailed out. conversing
