I woke yesterday morning to the news that a US special forces team had killed Osama Bin Laden. Having watched the 9/11 attacks on WTC from Greenwich Street New York as it happened I always thought Id take great pleasure when Bin Laden died. I didnt feel anything yesterday except to think that someone who impacted my life in a negaitive way was dead. I was discussing it with my brother and I relived those moments from 8.45 until 10.30 AM in New York 9/11/01. Perhaps this will give me the closure on my memories that has always eluded me in the past.
We talked about how its permissible for a country to avenge the death of its citizens but how its viewed as a crime when an individual dispenses summary justice. I do believe in an "eye for an eye" and dislike societys's way of making the victim who takes justifyable action into the criminal.
