Theres a horse running today called ballesteros,it would be fairly ironic if he won.

Will be sorely missed, supposedly was an absolute gentleman, gifted golfer that won 5 majors and was probably the first european to win a major in america i think?

I love looking back at the shot where he was under bushes and he got on his knees and hit the rescue wood out of it, was an amazing shot. RIP Seve! thumbs up

, Tony Jacklin was the first european major winner in the U.S.A. and won the US open... Seve was the first european to win the MASTERS... Was just talking to my mate about that FAMOUS shot..... He was, like Nicklaus, a man who brought the game forward by years during his time playingthumbs up

Thats the one, thanks for the info and correction mate! I wouldnt be surprised if they made a new course in Spain or America named after him and had it as a tournament every year. The Seve Ballesteros Open, i think it would be fitting.

That horse was 10/1 in the morning paper. With 20 mins until race time he is now 4's . Obviously for sentimental reasons people have put a lot of cash onto him. I was going to have a punt but now steering clear of it due to odds.

blarneykite: It's hilly and short ish but enjoyable too... 46 that good hitting mate........ That's a shot or two gone for the handicap

Haha well the past few months i have been getting my 0.1's back each week on purpose so i could get back out to a winnable handicap. Was playing off 9 a few months ago but then your up against gangsters playing off 24 or 26 when they should be 12-16 range, so i got myself out to 12 and i went for it today.. Id say ill be back down to fekkin 10 now laugh

When I was being taught how to play golf as a child by my dad, all i would be told was "Seve would do this" or "Seve wouldn't do that"!!

RIP Seve, one of the true legends of not just Golf but sport in general.

Have to agree..I'd never have started playing golf if it wasn't for him. Hero worship is putting it mildly. I remember watching him giving a display of shots the day before an Irish Open in Royal Dublin in the early 80's. Awesome stuff and when you think of the clubs he used then compared to todays it makes what he could do even more staggering...

PS. It was the Seve Trophy he started...the Presidents Cup is USA v Rest of the World.
