Google earth images can be used for many things.
To locate some land, farms, rivers, houses, etc..
Sometime ago we did use satelite images (very much like the google earth images but better resolution and the more recent posible images available) to locate some farms and from those images mesure them and design the water sypply system to irrigate the land and grow some crops. Later some checkpoints were done in real land.
Also, to locate vehicles, like car, buses, etc. for safety reasons.
Once I did see a computer program linked with the google Earth maps, showing the route of some vehicles.
And more.....
