Tulefel: I always look men’s profiles from the “Who’s viewed me” list if they are in an appropriate age. And I’ve noticed that rather a few of them chose to upload one of their photo there they are sitting on a couch or a chair (all clothes on, nothing indecent) in such a manner that exposes some part of their body in a quite an intriguing way.

Is that on purpose?

Depends on the photo, as in who took it??

Was it a night out and could have been taken by friends or does it look like they used the camera/phone themselves for a few snaps?? dunno

I expect, as for most of us, we try to choose one of the few that we think we look attractive.. peace Have a great day folks.. cool

Yes, of course no one would display a picture of themselves that they don’t evaluate as attractive, or at least fair. And the picture tells indeed some story. But what exactly? Intriguing, isn’t it?

Very true regarding attractive photo, but, and it's an important but, what we consider attractive may not necessarily come across in the way we hope, and why it's worth looking at the magazine supplements and other glossy magazines like Vogue and so on for the way models pose.. red nose grin

Though there is always the fact that some believe they can see into the depths of your soul in an image.. uh oh Thank god for shades!! head banger

P.S. glad all went well with hospital.. cheering

Well… as you’ve mentioned Vogue, it reminded me of a joke: “Every average man wants to see his daughter’s photo on the cover of Vogue, his son’s – on Sport, his lover’s – on Playboy, and his wife’s on “Missing!” leaflet…” grin

When I was a student and we were about to discuss themes of our examinations, our teacher suggested a study of glamorous magazines’ covers. He wanted someone of us to develop an algorithm that would make possible to evaluate degree of nudity and compare male and female models on that factor (he was into gender research). But the project got no interest as at once another question arose: a percent of exposed skin is one thing, but how one would estimate how challenging or inviting or suggestive the pose is?

By the way, your main photo, ie how you’ve chosen to introduce yourself, shows a rather thin solitary three in the wind… Does it mean anything? What intrigue is behind it?

My own impression is that female models expose more skin than the male once, but no, I can’t provide any scientific proof. People sell what they have got, given the demand – market economics. grin

As to your photo… I think it’s very fine as it is: harmonic composition and nice colour of the sky… Doubt it would do any better as only black and white, not that I’m a connoisseur of photography.

It seems that with magazines, its all about reaching your target market, and then of course keeping them as subscribers, and I found the following research study:

As for the photo, I'm influenced by Ansel Adams work and some of his B+W images are stunning.. as shown in the following link and how light can affect the outcome of an image..

One of the most wonderful things to ever see is an image coming to life in the developing tray, a blank canvas suddenly changes to, what we hope, is a wonderful image.. though digital has superseded that now.. moping I do love digital, but there is something about the old film days, where it was not until the darkroom did you know if you got the result you wanted.. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford a medium format digital camera, aahhh Hasselblad.. smitten daydream cool

Thank you for the article, took me some time to think it through… My opinion is that the study is not good. “This content analysis focused on the portrayals of women in advertisements in four different women's magazines…” Perhaps it was planned that way, but what they actually assessed was the three “coders”’s perception of “portrayals of women…” Then only 3 respondents isn’t serious, and 2 of them didn’t even belong to target group. And to make it short: they failed to “translate” body language into countable measures. (Exactly the same problem we bumped into when discussing possibility of similar study for examination.)

As to black and white… it’s stylish, no doubt. And thank you for the photo, it’s a very impressing image. Though too much black is too depressing in the long run (my perception.)

By the way, when you’ve bought your beloved Hasselblad, what will you then dream about?

Well… not a wonder that there are so many single women here: dream princes looking for a camera, not for princesses.

Ah, but Tulefel, you must remember that while the camera may be a dream, finding a Princess would be a reality!! banana

Also, for those not aware, we have Princes Street, a castle and palace here, so maybe the Princesses are looking in the wrong parts.. confused dunno sigh grin

Unless of course they prefer the states.. hmmm
