baldydude: another sad day for motorsports with the loss of Dan Wheldon, a 33 year old british born racing driver, who lost his live this evening during an indy racing league race at the las vegas motor speedway in a horrendous hi speed crash involving 15 cars.

Seen the crash a few times and the TV keep replaying it.

RIP Dan.He died doing what he loved.He was one of the most talented drivers of his generation and its a pity that we didnt see more of his talents on this side of the world

nothing safe about driving anything at speed on a track with other people regardless of weather its an oval or has corners and straights RIP and best wishes to those who were also injured in the other cars, doubt many walked away unscathed
only realised 2day he has a wife and young kids.. last race of the season and all an 4 that to happen

sorry, but they are not F1 cars, indy car oval racing celebrated its 100th anniversary this year so they are actually older than F1 racing, also the indy cars are specially build for the ovals nd are much heavier, stronger and surprisingly faster than an F1 car, the crash yesterday happened at just over 200mph, but the cars are capable of doing in excess of 240mph 
it was just unfortunate with the angle that he crashed into the retaining barrier
doubt anything will change in the american racing scene, whether its indy car, c.a.r.t, nascar etc that race on the super speedway ovals, death will always be a passenger with the speed that they race at
