The earlier versions of AVG were fine but as it developed it became much heavier on the memory, the scan is very long, even the user sensitive one.It also lately detects threats like autoplay exe files which can be innocent enough. There are some good alternatives out there for home use.

One I'd recommend is Malwarebytes which can be googled and downloaded free, has a really good scan engine, heavy on the memory when scanning but well worth it.

Before scanning and deleting any files always do a system restore first.thumbs up
