purr4mance: My mom’s companion due to a past brain injury was involved in an auto accident. He blacked out and stepped down on the gas pedal upon approaching a red traffic signal. Nobody else was seriously injured but the impact left him paralyzed from the neck down. He never made it out of the trauma unit and moved on after a week
They did so much together from weekend trips to local wineries. Dinner at moms was always here more wine or try this one. lol... I was happy for them both and felt comfort knowing that she would most likely have the security and intimacy with him in her final stage of life. Sadly, this wasn’t to be.
He was from upper NY and arrived here for career purposes years ago. The only family in town was one of his sons. So when it was time for the celebration, mom and especially myself having not met any of the family expected to feel some discomfort. After the meet and greet and some conversation with his immediate family, the discomfort was unfounded. These were warm, caring people here to celebrate the life of a loved one. I remember looking over at mom and smiling and she smiled back knowing exactly what I meant.
Although this happened a few years ago, I tend to remember the event during the Christmas holiday season as this is when it took place.Your thread and the circumstances parallel in some ways and was again a reminder. So I understand and my condolences to you and the family. I imagine the celebration will be warm and accepting.
Well you were so right..was included with all the family and could not have been made to feel more welcome.. His daughter said they were just so glad to meet me as their dad was so very happy at the end... Feel very humbled but very grateful for knowing such a loving man and his family

lovelylass3: Hi Guys met a really lovely guy on here and we clicked straight away, Turned out he used to be a neighbour and we never met. Things were travelling at high speed when a brick wall appeared. He emailed me a lovely note on friday then went out for a run and someone found him dead from a heart attack : sad_flower: Lesson for the new year, accept love when it comes around with open arms, never know how it's going to end , but enjoy the special moments as they come. Love to all and may you find the sort of joy my man and I had for too short a time.
Hi there Lovelylass. Your story is really sad and I send you my heartfelt wishes, this must be so hard for you to get through, but hey just remember the lovely time you shared with this guy and my guess is that he was thinking about you just before he passed. Sometimes people are sent into our lives for a reason be it that we help them in some way or they help us, your paths were surely meant to cross and who knows what might have been for you two. But you touched his life as he did yours and that memory will stay with you. Bless you,...and may you go on to find another great guy to touch your life as he did....

Thank you so much ..you are right and I have some lovely memories.. My hope for you all, is to experience the same loving and caring we were able to show each other, and he has taught me never to settle for 2nd best, that only the best is good enough..If I never find it again I will be happy, just to have had this chance to experience it once in my life is a gift.
I travelled that road in '98, with the passing of my wife... I cried for almost two full years... I'd see her face in clouds...in lakes...rivers...smoke... I only hope that I get another chance to fulfill the promise I made her...!!
