vinny1967: Ok that effing 'Singing Competition we can't Name' semi finals are happening next week and those two upside down brroms are representing us again.
What's your fave memory of this wonderful feast of talent and originality as I'm sure we all have some fond memories we would like to share.
Ireland have won it 7 times and this is my favourite of all the winners. What about Abba, Julio Englesias that famous singer from Canada and Englebert

Loved this one was eight years old...yes I remember.. Sandie Shaw the lady that sang in her bare feet...I went around the house for weeks with no shoes or socks singing into the sweeping brush...

Class That was number 1 when I was born
Can't have a Thread like this without remembering Riverdance. I remember watching it and getting shivers down my spine at the end. Wow

What I loved about Riverdance, apart from the obvious, was the nano second of silence after it finished before the applause started

Yeah, good clean family entertainment,, no need for that spartacus type durrty stuff and where else would you get a band who think they are characters from the lord of the rings actually winning the bloody thing, I like the voting , the ridiculous costumes,, eastern europeans who think it is cool to dress like pimps, and the songs are great, but then again I am on my fourth CD of ABBA gold and my taste in music might not be exactly trendy..

The applause you hear is normally a pre recorded section of the applause from the dress rehersal the day before. they use that so they can keep the timing they need to get through all the acts on time.
