Which of them is more important and, of course, why?

Depends which one is more interesting? And what is more important... money or happiness at home? Lucky is the person who has both.banana

Well one of these days i had to make a very crucial choice. The fist one was to persue a Ph.D specialization in one branch of Chemistry without payment during the 4 years it lasts. The other was to persue a Ph.D in another branch, get pain for the 4 years. But...the latter did not interest me... So i don't know what to do...

If you can survive the 4 years taking the paid position then you may be able to come back to what love to do at a later time . I know of a few whom had to do things in this way . Wish you good luck ..

I agree with Yami here.... Also, can you survive without being paid for 4 years? Thats the crucial question! 4years goes by very quick, and then you will have what you want. If you need the money, then you gotta take the paid position, and later do what you love.

If you realy realy cant make up your mind... and the money side is not that important.... then just toss a coin!cheers

Hi Algarion, I just took a look at your profile, and see you only 22yrs old..... you very young to be so clever, huh? Doing a Ph.D!
Do you still live at home? If you do, then you making an intelligent choice here, to go for what you realy like. Later on in life, when you get more involved, etc, it will be more difficult to study... especially if you got overheads!
Good luck to youhead banger

Well because many people ask me about my age i will make things clear. I entered the University at 18. Now i finished my undergraduate studies. Then you have a choice. Either you go for a Master's degree and then a Ph.D or... you go directly to the Ph.D. So i chose the latter. And i am not very clever...I just like what i do. About reading... This was what happened to you? As the years passed you found less and less time to read? I thought it was otherwise. Because when you are young the last thing you do is study.laugh

Interesting. You must be clever to go straight to Ph.D. Dont deny that... I know! head banger

What you saying about my reading? I love reading... its what my life is about. I read whenever Im not having to do something else. I used to read any old nonsense... and now that Im older I enjoy the more philosophical books, just finished C.G.Jung's "Conversations", quite mind boggling. But living here in CH, my English books all come from the local "dump" where they have been discarded by travellers thru the country.
