my honest advise is DON'T. I downloaded it last year and very near wrecked my pc. In my experience MSN is easier and better, but that's just my opinion, be careful with Yahoo
im guessing it depends what windows your using and what other files you have on your comp, somtimes the files can inflict with others causing your comp to slow and sometimes restart its self for no reason....on saying that, i have msn and i have yahoo and touching wood, ive never had trouble with ether of them:)

I have a few different versions of yahoo which are tested and proven . These are self extracting and you may be able to find them on the net if you look . Present Yahoo messenger has its own filters coming with it . Meaning that it will cut you off , monitor your data.. etc according to Yahoo's current policies . These undesirable features are missing from older versions of YM . Older YM are much smaller in size and so far have remained fully working . I have installed , compared and then removed all versions except ver. 6 which I am still using .
