Yeah, the kernels that you buy are air-popped, granted there's a bit of oil to cook them in but it's the butter/sauce that piles on the calories.

just get your recommended 5 a day fruit and veg ,pop a vitamin b or c tablet a day, and eat some crap as well ,dont deprive yourself of some comfort foods.Maybe im just the luck one with a good metabolism gene, but if i had to observe my calorie intake daily i would end up in a straight jacket.

It's exercise
professor grin

Obesity is not just about eating too much of the wrong foods and not exercising enough though in general, being active is a good way to go and burns away most of what you'd eat. But, there's always other factors thrown into the equation. Metabolism, certain medications, certain health conditions and age are just some of the most obvious factors that can determine body weight not to mention lifestyle. Obesity is not pinned to not eating too much of the wrong foods and not enough of the healthy options.

While it would be nice to live in a fantasy world where curing obesity was that simple. It's not. In the last 2 weeks RTE aired the brilliant 'Obesity Clinic'. This surely showed if anything ever did, the huge psychological element of the descent into obesity. A lot of the time the food is only a symptom of broader issues. Yes we all have a responsibility to do something to avoid the descent towards obesity, but unless a person's emotional conditions are right to do that, it will not happen and lecturing them certainly won't help.

I have never been and probably never will be a health freak. I don't even get my 5 a day, never did. Suppose if I really pushed myself I could, with a smoothie sometime during the day and lots of veg for dinner.
I don't deprive myself of any food....life's too short and I'm pretty healthy...that said eating too much crap for days on end doesn't work well with my body, just makes me feel like rubbish so it's a preventative. If I want a bar of chocolate or three of an evening I will. If I want takeaway three times a week I will.....just not every week :)
