iamamm: Hi...Maybe simply that you were on a US passport ?
Most US / UK / Canada / Oz and NZ holders are welcomed easily there, cos that's where most Filipinos want to go ( legally ! )
Most EU / Schengen countries don't even need a Visa to enter the Phils ...I don't !..and I can extend / convert my stay as I like .

if I remember correctly at that time I had no problem getting in but after that I had the extension and I was staying with a prominent family there on their compound. They were very well versed so I was not to concerned, I will admit that I have been taught pretty strictly about holding onto my passport so when the Maid went to the office there to take care of everything I was a bit nervous. But she was not just a maid, she was much more to the family than that and was very trustworthy. The family also had members working in the Travel business as well. But never mind all that, sounds like you are doing well with your venture and hope all goes very well for you Andy.
handshake
Niko

Cheers Niko
Yep......sounds like they were well off / connected and thus any
'maid' would often be used for such things.
And lets face it , you surrender your passport at a hotel ?
Venture attempt still , at the moment.....working hard to sort it !
thumbs up handshake
Andy
