What do I think?

Not our problem and never has been - History shows that the French colonised Mali from 1892–1960 and granted them independence. Therfdore The French have alwasy ben our natrural enemies and they should take all the obvious political crap instead of us which would inevitably arise if we were to become involved now.

Mr Cameron has said the UK is ready to offer logistical, intelligence and surveillance help to France, although he has ruled out a combat role for British troops.

Hello Mr P -- Mali - Location and History professor
Maili is a West African landlocked country which, before independance in 1960, was known as French Sudan.

professor In the late 19th century, during the Scramble for Africa, France seized control of Mali, making it a part of French Sudan. French Sudan (then known as the Sudanese Republic) joined with Senegal (also French) in 1959, achieving independence in 1960 as the Mali Federation. -- Shortly after that, following Senegal's withdrawal from the federation, the Sudanese Republic declared itself the Independent Republic of Mali.

professor
After a long period of one-party rule, a 1991 coup led to the writing of a new constitution and the establishment of Mali as a democratic, multi-party state. Tha main laungage is still French and the Currency, the Franc. An estimated 90% of Malians are Muslim (mostly Sunni and Sufi),

That mr PoL is why we should keep our nosees out

When does a country interfere when horrible things are happening to civillians of a country. I do not mean for gain to protect a commodity as is usually the case, I mean real bad things to ordinary people.?????

Watching the Beeb this morning,
No combat will be engaged by
the British Soldiers, does this
mean they will not be armed?
Bet they are.
They will assist the French why
the Foreign Legion needs assistance
they can do well on their own.

My personal opinion is that we should keep out of other countries disputes BUT ,seeing as we invaded so many countries in the past and took over so to speak, don't think we can sit on the fence when a crisis arises.

Does the UN help in these actual problems? Who knows.dunno

I do feel that Muslim control in many countries now is causing major problems. They are even fighting themselves!

Syrian people are in a living hell situation. We sit in our snug homes and say let them get on with it. We HAVE to get involved whether people like it or not.j.m.o.

Indeed Sir,
UK are in a rush to send in troops eg training purposes!
There is no prise for going into a country that has
assistance already. Is the MOD so well off that they
can afford to send the boys at the drop of a hat to a
country in Africa?
OK we do not see them going to Syria, yes its in a hell of
a state right now and will get far far worse. I have been
to Syria it was a lovely place to visit but now its like
Beiruit.
Are the UK going to send troops to Egypt also to stop the
fighting there? That country is a gonner now as its elected
the wrong folks to power. Too late the hero!!
The world is in a mess and getting involved in too many
countries is going to cause untold problems for the UK.
Iraq still investigations ongoing! Costing the UK for sure.
Afganistan loss of lives for what?
Sorry no getting involved is my opinion.
Let some of the other countries get stuck in and see how
it goes.
Just an opinion of course.

I am sure the op will reply to this post in time.

Might I suggest not being sarcastic in anyway.
Stand for election in the next election as independent
and say your peace then. I am sure you will be elected
with the feeling of the oap's etc., I would vote you
in as your thinking will be of benefit to those in real
need.
Too many say and do not do. So there you go one soltuion
to think about. cost is minimal and with the groups of
OAP's I am sure they would rally around you.
I have told Red 1 to go back and stand for election that
would be fun. His very radical views would turn a lot of
heads in Gov.
You are not alone in your thinking, but and but, how many
will speak out? WEll there is no freedom of speech now!!

I hit the button too early
1. Might I suggest not being sarcastic in anyway.
Stand for election in the next election as independent
and say your peace then.
2. Too many say and do not do. So there you go one soltuion
to think about. cost is minimal and with the groups of
OAP's I am sure they would rally around you.

I will now answer
1. Why is it SARCASM when people like me who are not professional comedians or journalists take the PI$$ out of politics etc and say our piece when under the same freedom of thought and speech laws that say it is SATIRE if and when Professional Stand up Comedians on TV such as in Mock the week, or Have I got News for you on and in Private Eye do exactly the same and worse.

2. I checked the cost of standing for Parliament in 2007 after my wife died. The cost is NOT minimal as you said. The facts are that unless one has something like £100,000 savings and is prepared to lose the 10% of it as their deposit if they don't get sufficiant votes they lose it.

I have never had anywhere near that much wealth and I am medically unfit anyway.

Furthermore in my case it is NOT through lack of guts. - The local Tory MP objected to what I said last year about Tory oppression and deliberate restrictions applied to the lower paid and pensioners etc at an open public meeting last year and I got appluase for saying what I did. -- The MP got its mafia to shop me to the Filth as he said I was the main troublemaker so Two 30 something CID Filth knocked at my door the next day !!! - That was quicker than when a near neigbour, another OAP reported a buglary as it was happening opposite them a week previously in my road !!

After I playted them a recording of what I said with the appluase on it they said the MP had no case.
I asked very politely (sarcastically) Will you be needing a copy and taking action against him for wasting police time as you would if anyone with less power did the same and got the same result ?

They just shrugged and left without comment so I said cased proved and Touché methinks.
That must tell you something !!
