pedro27: ah ha, a problem? i don't see mental illness as a problem, i view it as a gift!!
even making threads and talking about it in my own town can help the vunable in seeking better care.

your mixed up there! i don't drink to ''help'' me relax, so get the facts correct, seems you have not forgiven me, and you want to spread your opion about me

so why do you drink alcohol given the serious medication you are on?

also, coming from someone who has experienced severe depression in the past I can call it a problem if i want to. And it was a problem. I couldnt function properly and a lot of my life and relationships suffered because of it. It most certainly was not a 'gift' doh

I however accepted I had problem that needed addressing and I did so.
It was only with a lot of work on my own behalf that I got to where I am now.

I appreciate that your mental issues are not the same as mine where however it is only with taking the right decisions that things change for the better.

From what you say your illness is one that needs to be managed. Therefore the decisions you make need to be with regard to the correct management of your illness.

Has you 'gift' impacted negatively on the lives of those you care about?
If so, it is a 'gift' they dont need.
I am in no way saying that they should ignore your illness or cast you aside. However in looking after yourself properly you will make the lives of those you care about that bit easier too.

You are obsessed with agendas Pedro. No one has an agenda here (except maybe you.) You asked people an honest question and those inclined to do so will give you an honest answer. If you didn't want to hear the answers why ask the question.

Oh and by the way you contradict yourself by saying you don't see it as a problem yet then go on to use the term mental illness. No one involved in mental health with the possible exception of psychiatrists, use the term mental illness anymore, it is as old fashioned, politically incorrect and out of date a term as 'handicapped' or 'coloured'
