Try Fairford Air Show each year, June or July, I think. Its fab!
I am very fortunate, I work in an environment whereby we have planes and helicopters landing and its awesome. I also live where we get the coastguard flying over regularly. A few days ago we had The Red Arrows over our garden..... whooaa!!!
Very little can top the Spitfire, of course, but the Vulcan is incredible - it almost literally cracks the sky, and I am always spellbound by the Harrier Jumpjet - just me?

Super Thread Him_666 Yep there are so many places of interest Sinsheim museum now that's a place with serious aircraft! We have a heliport over the back of us here lots of eggs whisks! Even the loggers take off and land from there. The Prince of Liechtenstein flies over regularly in his old whisk! cool stuff. Soon there will be a kite rolling out of our garage! Cool wonder how long this thread will last?

check_mate I did see it, thought they might have allowed the original pilots to go in it though that would have been the icing on the cake! We have the old JU52 flying out of here and its great to see such a superb aircraft after all these years still in the air. Its commercial now and always fully booked for the 14 passengers its carries, it could be 16 in case I am corrected.
I just found an old t-shirt with the Voodoo on it and it reminded me of my father, who flew Voodoos and Sabers (Golden Hawks) with the "at the time" Royal Canadian Airforce.... now Canadian armed services....

Wow that's a real find! Cool like it. I am collector of tee shirts but only of the F1 the older champs of the real racing.

Jean am very interested in all aspects of Aviation and indeed WW2 love listening to the tales of what went on during that time. I am forever stock piling food and have been asked is there going to be a war. I just worry there just might be.

No - don't you think there are just going to be mini (not my word) conflicts around the world.... lots of strife and civil wars - however, not a world one....
In 1959, the Royal Canadian Air Force celebrated its 35th anniversary along with 50 years of powered aviation in Canada. To mark that special occasion, a team known as the "Golden Hawks" were created and were first equipped with 6 Canadair Sabre Mk.5 aircraft and later with the Mk.6 version. The airplanes were distinctively painted in overall gold with a stylized red and white hawk emblem painted on each side of the fuselage. In 1960, with the growing popularity of the "Golden Hawks", their pilots received new Air Force blue flying suits and red flying jackets that became their trademark along with a new team patch.
The "Golden Hawks" airshow typically lasted for 25 minutes. In spite of having been originally created for only one year, the team actually remained in existence until Feb 7, 1964, when they were finally disbanded for financial reasons. In total, they gave 317 air demonstrations and they also became the first RCAF display team to visit the USA in 1960.
The team also had two support aircraft, a Canadair-produced CT-133 Silver Star (a license-built version of the T-33 Shooting Star), which was also painted in team's colors. -

I know the world is in a dire stress with all the unrest in so many areas. Some of these conflicts will never be resolved. The WW2 and tales of it, how the people pulled together, had a community spirit and how happy they actually were during that time makes me really think what on earth is happening today. No one cares about their neighbourhood or neighbour they could die and they would not know it. Its a society of greed and lust now. There is no care left in this sad world in which we now live.

I think it is just the way the news is presented now-a-days.
In the USA when there is a horrific dog bite for example - the media drag out more and more old stories of dogs biting children - some of them years old news.
The media does this for current events - so that when we read the news reports - we think GAWD the world is going to hell in a handbasket! of course that is what I think when in reality - some of the reports are from stories that are older than the current news.
I try to take a step back and look around me - my neighbors, my workplace, while driving in traffic, talking to friends......
